Our Philosophy
Every bass is a Masterbuilt.
In this day and age where an instrument could go from tree to a finished instrument in two weeks, here at Shan Basses I'm adding back the time, skills and creativity needed in luthiery.
My method of crafting bass makes sure that the needed amount of time for the wood to adjust is given at every stage, ensuring stability and unparalleled attention to details.
While preserving traditional craftsmanship, I also believe that a true custom shop should never limit the imagination of musicians to several sets of fixed templates. At Shan Basses clients are always encouraged to commission completely new designs that other makers might refuse to do due to the tremendous time, risks and effort required.
Composing Tone
One of the aspects that holds upmost importance when building a S-Bass is the tone. I believe that the tone of a bass comes from careful combination of tonewoods, electronics, construction, etc. just as you would use rhythm, melody and harmony in a music composition.
As such, with experienced and proven methods I could help you achieve the tone that you desire with a lot less guesswork
